Photographer's Name:  Lea Chauvin

Creative Style:  Lifestyle/Photojournalism

Specialties:  Children and Boudoir

Background & History: ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿Here's something that may surprise you - my passion for photography was not sparked by the birth of my first child ;)  In actuality, I've had a passion for capturing images for as long as I can remember. I've always had an eye for noticing that perfect moment - you know, the one that always leaves you thinking, "man, if only I had a camera right now!"  Well, after awhile, I stopped thinking it and actually picked up a camera! My passion stems from my innate ability to see life's true beauty in the small and fleeting moments that so often get overlooked or forgotten.  I became a photographer to capture and preserve those moments for lifetimes, as they so truly deserve.

Creative Style: ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿The inspiration for my photography style comes from those unscripted, split-second moments when you're able to see past the facade of fake smiles and "put on" faces and into someone's true emotion and personality;  that fleeting expression or far off look that perfectly encompasses their pure essence. That is what I strive for in every session.  So don't be surprised if there are moments when I'm silent and don't give direction - I'm simply waiting ;)  You may never hear the words, "say cheese" come out of my mouth.  But rest assured, you will be more than satisfied with the outcome.  This is especially true with children.  Whenever possible, I prefer to keep subjects in their element.  Which is why I opt for on-location shoots --whether it be in a client's home or at a park-- over studio sessions when given a choice.

Creds: ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿ï»¿I'll be honest, it's a little intimidating putting this out there, but it's a part of what makes me, well... me.  I am completely, 100%, a self-taught photographer.  Now don't let that fool you.  Just because I didn't graduate summa cum laude from Whatsit University's College of the Arts with a degree in Photojournalism doesn't mean I don't know how to take a beautifully composed photograph.  I even know what aperture and ISO are and I shoot in manual! ;)  But that just shows the kind of dedication I have.  I didn't take the shortcut of paying someone to feed me what they think I should know (not that there's anything wrong with that).  Nope!  I went out and learned it myself!  But I do have some professional credentials:  I interned with Ron Parks Photography from September 2011 to February 2012.  And during my time there, I got to shoot an Austin City Limits event with the Gym Class Heroes!  Now THAT's pretty cool!
